The Oceans Office is established by NEC Decision No. 03/2015. This Office is responsible for providing legal, scientific and technical advice on matters relating to the seas and maritime boundaries of Papua New Guinea with reference to Legislation, International Conventions (UN Law of the Sea Convention 1982), and applicable technology and scientific research.

Providing legal advice on matters relating to the seas and maritime boundaries of Papua New Guinea with reference to national legislation and international conventions, including the UN Law of the Sea Convention 1982.
Scientific & Technical Advice
Providing scientific and technical advice on maritime matters, drawing on applicable technology and scientific research to support Papua New Guinea's interests in its seas and maritime boundaries.
